After having received the first feedbacks on the Sails Amendement, we found
out a few doubtful points and mistakes.
Here is an "Errata Corrige" that is intended to clarify those doubts and
errors.
Portuguese crews selected for the World Championship
Portugal held on June 13th, 14th and 15th the Vaurien National Championship, last classification regattas for the Vaurien World Championship.
In highly variable weather conditions, which ranged from a fabulous sunny day to rain and intense fog, 18 crews participated in this event that took place in Matosinhos, the same venue of this year’s World Championship.
In the overall classification, Duarte Logarinho/Ricardo Cardoso, from Clube Naval de Leça, imposed itself again to the rest of the fleet, reaching the 9th national title in the class.
The victory in the juniors was obtained by a new entry crew to the class, composed by Tiago Morais / Afonso Leite, also from Clube Naval de Leça.
The women's competition was won by Sara Reis, from Clube de Vela da Costa Nova, which now crewed by his daughter Mariana Nunes, made a very successful return to the Vaurien class.

Spanish crews testing the new sails
The recently approved sails for the Vaurien class are already being tested in Spain, with very promising results.

CIV authorizes the use of the new sails
The President of CIV has just publish this letter authorizing the use of the new sail plans for all Vaurien regattas, including the 2008 World Championship, effective since 1st May 2008.
The new “Sails Rules Amendment 2008” can be consulted in the Technical Area section or next to the Notice of Race for this Championship.
Notice of Race (NoR) available now !
We have just received from CIV the acceptance for the Notice of Race of the Vaurien World Championship 2008, that is now available at the Notice section.
Special attention should be given to the Rules Amendment included, regarding the new sails and spinnaker pole rules.
It is important to notice that the old sails and pole are still valid, so they can be used in this Championship.
We will begin accepting registrations very soon, so stay in touch !
1st Portuguese National Qualifier of the Vaurien Class held at Tavira
During the weekend of March 8th and 9th, it has been held in Tavira the 1st Portuguese National Qualifier of the Vaurien Class, which this year had a unique relevance once it counts to the qualifier criterion to the World Championship, which will take place in August, in Portugal, organized by Clube Naval de Leça. The winner crew was the 8th time national champions Duarte Logarinho and Ricardo Cardoso from Clube Naval de Leça, and sponsored by the Vaurien World Championship. See the classifications

Taking advantage of the availability from Federação Portuguesa de Vela, to whom we are grateful, and which gave its space in the International Fair of Lisbon (FIL) to Clube Naval de Leça, where Nauticampo took place, a delegation from Clube Naval de Leça went to the capital to present in this privileged stage, the World Championship of the Vaurien Class which will be held in Leixões in the next month of August.
The delegation composed by the president Mr. Inocêncio Soares, the championship chairmam Mr. Carlos Neto and the club commodore Ms. Maria José Sousa presented with the President of Federação Portuguesa de Vela, Mr. Pedro Beckert and the vice president of the class Mr. Alexandre Paulino the event that will be one of the most important to take place in our country during this year.
In addition to the several media very important persons from the national sailing were present to show its support to the organization.
This chance became an excellent disclosure, not only of the world championship, but also of Clube Naval de Leça.
Clube Naval de Leça presents the 2008 Vaurien World Championship at NAUTICAMPO.
On the next 16th February, Clube Naval de Leça will be on the 2008 edition of Nauticampo, in Lisbon to present the organization of the Vaurien World Champonship to the public, press and sailors. The organization of this event counts with everybody on its place, on the FPVela Stand.
AS Vaurien Portugal presents the official Class Flag to the World Championship organizing club.
During the awards giving dinner to the sailors of Clube Naval de Leça, on the past 9th February, Ricardo Cardoso, President of the ASVaurien, gave to the Chairman of the Vaurien World Championship Carlos Neto, the flag that identifies the organizer club of this next event, between the 2nd and 9th August.

Dutch Qualifiers now scheduled
Dutch Qualifiers for the championship. At this moment we will have the first ranking on 10-12 may, the second on 17-18 may and the 3rd on 21-22 june.

CIV confirms the Clube Naval de Leça as the hosting club for the 47th Vaurien World Championship
The International Committee of the Vaurien Class reinforces confidence in the Clube Naval de Leça. The International Committee of the Vaurien Class (CIV), in meeting in Paris on December the 9th, reaffirmed its full confidence in Clube Naval de Leça for the organisation of the Worldchampionship of the class in 2008, to be held in Portugal in August of next year. In the meeting, attended by Chairman of the Worldchampionship on behalf of the club organizer, were presented the main objectives of the championship, its infrastructure and its program. During the meeting was highlighted the great importance for the class of a strong presence of sailors in this championship, in order to boost its relaunch with the sailors, either younger and older, particularly after the recent amendments to the rules of class that aim to make Vaurien more modern, competitive and accessible.
Club Naval de Leça pledged to do everything so that this championship is a success, not only in sports but also in promotion, counting for that not only with a a dynamic and enthusiastic team, but also with the institutional support of entities as important as the City Hall of Matosinhos, Instituto de Desporto de Portugal (Institute of Sports of Portugal), Federação Portuguesa de Vela (Portuguese Sailing Federation) and Administração do Porto de Leixões (Administration of Leixões Harbour), among others. Following the meeting, has been placed online the official website of the Championship in www.worldvaurien2008.org where will be published all the news and relevant information about this event.
